Terms of Service
Effective Date: October 15, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Nib ("the App"), developed by CodeWithTrong LLC ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Description of the App
Nib is a note-taking app for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It saves your notes as plain markdown files in a folder you choose on your computer.
2. License
The App is free. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it on computers you own or control, for personal or work use.
3. Your Notes Belong to You
Everything you write in Nib stays yours. We claim no rights to your notes, and we never receive a copy of them.
4. Backups and Data Loss
Your notes live on your computer, so keeping them safe is up to you. Nib keeps a history of each note and a trash for deleted notes, but these are stored on the same computer and are not a backup. We recommend keeping your own backups.
If you sync your vault with a cloud folder service or a git repository, that sync is between you and that service. We are not responsible for conflicts, lost changes, or other problems caused by syncing.
5. Running Code
Nib can run code blocks in your notes on your computer. Code you run has the same access to your computer as any program you run yourself, and can change or delete files. Only run code you understand and trust. You are responsible for any code you run and what it does.
6. Updates
Nib checks for updates and asks before installing them. Updates may add, change, or remove features. Some fixes may only be available in the latest version.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or try to extract the source code of the App, except where that restriction is not allowed by law, and not to redistribute or resell the App.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is owned by the Developer and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don't give you any rights to the App's intellectual property beyond the license in section 2.
9. Third-Party Services
Some features rely on services we don't control, such as GitHub (for updates), Google Fonts (for the editor font), and any cloud folder or git service you choose to sync with. Your use of those services is covered by their own terms.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will never lose data.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. This includes data lost through device failure, deleting the App or your vault, sync problems, or code you run. Your only remedy if you're unhappy with the App is to stop using it.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Developer from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to the App or Terms
We may update the App or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Termination
You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue or change the App at our discretion.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas.
