Weathering It: Support & FAQ

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Need help with Weathering It? Below are answers to common questions. If you don't find what you're looking for, email us at support@codewithtrong.com.

Where is my data stored? Is it backed up automatically?

All of your data, including household members, medications, doses, and symptoms, is stored locally on your device in a local database. Nothing is uploaded to a server, because we don't operate one.

This means there is no automatic cloud backup. If your device's regular backup system is enabled (e.g., iCloud Backup on iOS or Google's device backup on Android), the App's data is typically included as part of your normal device backup, since it's stored in the App's local storage. We recommend keeping your device's built-in backup feature turned on so you don't lose data if you lose, reset, or replace your phone.

How does Family Sync work?

Family Sync lets you keep data in sync between your own devices without any cloud service:

  1. Enable Family Sync in the App on each device you want to pair.
  2. Use the in-app camera scanner to scan a pairing QR code displayed on the other device.
  3. Once paired, the devices discover each other automatically over your local Wi-Fi network (both devices need to be on the same network) and sync data directly, peer-to-peer.

No data ever leaves your home network or touches a remote server. If your devices aren't on the same Wi-Fi network, sync simply won't happen until they are.

How do I delete my data?

You have full control over your data at any time:

  • Delete individual entries (a person, a medication, a dose log, a symptom entry) directly within the App using the delete/edit options on each item.
  • Delete everything at once by removing the App from your device. Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling the App removes the associated data from that device.

If you use Family Sync, keep in mind that deleting data on one device will sync that deletion to paired devices the next time they connect. Double-check before deleting if you want to keep the data on your other devices.

How do I request a refund for the tip purchase?

The optional "tip" purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play billing. We don't handle payments ourselves, so refunds must be requested through the platform you purchased from:

  • iOS: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com or go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions/Purchase History on your device to request a refund from Apple.
  • Android: Visit play.google.com/store/account or the Google Play Store app's Order History to request a refund from Google.

Refunds are granted at Apple's or Google's discretion according to their own policies.

Does the App track me or show ads?

No. Weathering It does not include any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We don't use your location or access your contacts. Your data is never sold or shared with advertisers.

Why does the App ask for local network, camera, or notification permissions?

  • Local network access: needed only for the optional Family Sync feature to find and connect to your own paired devices over Wi-Fi.
  • Camera: used only to scan the QR code when setting up Family Sync pairing.
  • Notifications: used to deliver the medication reminders you set up in the App.

You can decline any of these permissions if you don't plan to use the related feature (e.g., you can use the App fully for tracking without ever enabling Family Sync or notifications).

What happens if I get a new phone?

If your old device's backup (via iCloud or Google backup) included the App's data, restoring your new device from that backup should bring your Weathering It data along with it. Otherwise, if you use Family Sync, you can pair your new device with an existing device on your home Wi-Fi network to bring your data over. If neither applies, unfortunately locally stored data cannot be recovered by us, since we never have a copy of it.
