Nib: Support & FAQ
Need help with Nib? Start with the answers below. Still stuck? Email support@codewithtrong.com or send feedback.
How do I open Nib?
Press Alt+Space (Option+Space on a Mac) from anywhere, and press it again to hide Nib. You can change the shortcut in Settings. Nib also has an icon in the menu bar (the system tray on Windows and Linux) that you can click.
Where are my notes saved?
In the folder you picked when you first opened Nib, as plain .md files. Open Settings to see the folder or move it, or use Reveal vault in Finder / Explorer from the command palette (Ctrl/⌘ K).
How do I get my notes on another computer?
Keep your notes folder in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive and choose that same folder in Nib on each computer. Make sure the files are kept downloaded on each computer (Keep Downloaded in iCloud, Make available offline in Dropbox, or Mirror files in Google Drive). If you use git, you can add your own private repository under Sync in Settings instead. Pick one method, not both.
Can I get back an older version of a note?
Yes. Click the clock button at the top of a note to see its history and restore any earlier version. History is kept on each computer separately.
I deleted a note by mistake. Can I get it back?
Deleted notes and folders go to the trash. Press Ctrl/⌘ K, choose Open trash, and restore it.
How do I update Nib?
Nib checks for updates on its own and asks before installing one. You can also check any time with Check for updates in the command palette (Ctrl/⌘ K).
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is Nib safe?
Windows shows that message for apps from new developers that aren't signed with a paid certificate yet. Click More info, then Run anyway to install.
Does Nib collect my data?
No. There's no account, no analytics, and your notes never leave your computer unless you sync them yourself. See the privacy policy for the details.
